The vows have been made, their marriage sealed with a kiss. The bride and groom spend time with us taking formal photos with their family. Their parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and of course their grandparents.
Tanner sat down next to his grand father. He looked at him, then at me, holding back teas and said “Brett, this man means so much to me”. At that moment, Tanner relived his entire childhood in his mind. Those memories playing with his grandparents when he was a little boy. Seeing them at his baseball games, cheering and celebrating his milestones. Tanner’s grandfather alongside his father, teaching him everything he knows about being a man and a leader. Tanner took this moment to tell his grandfather how much he meant to him.
I watched this special moment unfold in front of me. You may see other photographers hurry their couples along to get through family formals. One of the reasons why we became wedding photographers is for moments like this. Where family & friends see the opportunity and find the courage to express how much they mean to each other. It is our goal to see those opportunities and allow each person to have the safe space to be able to let those emotions come out.
Morgan told us what moment stood out the most to Tanner. The first time he saw Morgan, when they read their vows, these moments were very special….but the one moment that will stick with Tanner the most was seeing the tears in his grandfather’s eyes when he told him how much he meant to Tanner.
Morgan & Tanner’s wedding was absolutely gorgeous. The Barn at Hornbaker Garden’s in Princeton is one of our absolute favorites in Illinois. Getting to know all of your friends and family, seeing how much family means to both of you. O my gosh, when Morgan surprised her mother by dancing with her, get the tissues ready because it was absolutely incredible. We love you both so much, we can’t wait to see how you are both blessed as your marriage blossoms!
